As a first-time home buyer having Steve was a god send. I'm usually fairly self-sufficient but buying a house for your first time throws a lot at you and having someone so organized, and helpful was wonderful to help ease the burden. After chatting with a couple other realtors, they all seemed disengaged, and somewhat uninterested in actually chatting, figuring out what I wanted and how to get there. Steve was the complete opposite, he was happy to talk, get to know one another, figure out what I wanted. Relocating from Winnipeg to Calgary could have been stressful, but Steven made it incredibly easy. Steven met with us over Zoom multiple times before we arrived in the city to talk through the Calgary market, neighbourhoods, and our 'must-haves.' We had a short window to buy in-person, and Steven cleared his schedule to house hunt with us. When we saw a property we loved, he was quick to put in a competitive offer. We had a seamless transition from the acceptance of our offer to closing thanks to Steven's clear and careful communication with the seller's agent, inspection company, condo agency, and our lawyer. On a personal note, having a trans and queer-affirming agent was key to our positive experience.

I had a wonderful experience with my first home purchase using Steven Lubiarz's services. I found Steven through a Google search which landed me on the Gay Realty Network. When I perused his website and found a Progress Pride flag in his footer I knew he was the realtor for us. 

At all times Steven treated me, a queer, trans person, and my polycule with utmost respect during the purchase process. We had a home in mind when we approached Steven and, after arranging multiple viewings in our target neighbourhood, we actually settled on a different property more suited to us. Had my family not gone with him as our realtor, we may never have found our ideal property! 

As this purchase occurred during the height of the pandemic, I was also impressed that Steven had adapted his business to support masking and distancing requirements so all parties could be at ease. While these requirements prevented some of my polycule from being able to view the home in person prior to closing, we were provided thorough enough detail to make an informed decision. 

Steven was highly diligent in getting us through the offer process, making strong recommendations for home inspectors and helping us add additional terms that ended up being pivotal by closing day. He was in very regular contact with us throughout the process and continually provided detail about steps we would have to follow at certain times to see our purchase through to completion. Steven went over and above our expectations and wishes when looking for a new home for our family. He was very patient with us at the beginning when we were just starting to get a feel for the market and communities. He had great knowledge of areas and other considerations about value. Because of the distance between Toronto and Calgary it was difficult for us to asses and negotiate. There was the additional difficulty of Covid protocols to deal with. We had to buy long distance and Steve was able to do that for us. He was also thorough in walking us through a purchase process very different from what we were used to. Our contact with the lawyers was good and we will use them again if necessary.

We found Steven to be completely approachable and enormously helpful throughout the pandemic issues. He helped us purchase a new set of appliances that are beautiful and work perfectly in our new condo. He saw to their installation and testing and followed up with the delays in delivery. All the things we were not there to do, he did for us, with thought and consideration for our budget and our time. More importantly he was someone we could talk with and to, someone we could trust, someone we could laugh with and who could reassure us whenever needed.

We both retired from our positions at University. We wanted to be in the West and chose Calgary as giving us the kind of interests and support we needed at this point in our lives. Steve seemed to quickly understand the uncertainty we felt making a long jump to a very different world. He taught us the street layouts, the trails and the paths we didn't know. He introduced us to various neighborhoods and shared the positives and negatives about various types of condominiums. We quickly felt comfortable with him and deem him our first friend in Calgary.
